How can i get a donate prom dresses for high school girls that cannot afford.?
in my area i live in gastonia,NC
in my area we have a thing called "project fairy godmother" in which all of the high schools collect from students dresses that they donate and then later they are all put together and sold at a price of i believe $10 to those who cannot afford expensive dresses and business around the area also donate their time to alter the dresses and give hair and makeup tips, etc. during the time the girls pick their dresses. those who donate a dress can also pick up one for free (they receive a ticket when they donate a dress). you may want to look up on this and talk to pricipals, teachers, and business owners.

A quick Yahoo search for "donate prom dreses"shows 10 pages of 10 sites each of places that have done this. Do the search and read how several of these organizations have gotten dresses. Email a few and they may be able to help you get started.
I read an article about a teenager who started a project like this a few yrs ago and it worked very well. She put ads in the paper if I remember correctly and asked the newspapers and TV ppl tom help publicize it. She got a place to donate hanging and try on space and dry cleaners to clean the gowns free.

Our high school cheerleaders did this the last couple of years and I think the name of it was something like Princess Project? Our kids buy dresses like they are nothing, so I know there were some great dresses donated!
I found this URL, but it is just for San Francisco, but we did it here in Austin, TX. Good luck!
