What to wear to a semi-formal school dance?

At my school there's an annual semi-formal dance in late spring or around early June. Do you think it would be appropriate to wear a vintage 1950's swing dress? Let me know opinions or advice - Thanks!

For semi formal I think that would be appropriate as long it is not long. Semi formal dances usually mean short dresses of the cocktail style or skirts. To make it a little less formal if you are worried, do some cool, casual chunky jewelry, nothing with rhinestones or something and leave your hair down or in a light curl. Don’t go all out. Vintage 1950′s should be cute as long as it does not clash with the theme. If you were doing a Hawaiian theme, then obviously you would not want to wear that. Put a picture up and that will help a lot.
